Memorial keepsakes for your loved ones and pets.
Peter Patterson Glassworks
I have been working with hot glass for over 35 years. My Education includes a BFA from the Cleveland School of Art, Cleveland Ohio. I have also studied extensively at the Penland School of Craft, in North Carolina. Working with Master Glassblowers, learning their different techniques and styles, and incorporating that knowledge into my own glass artwork. I am best known for my vast experience with different techniques and styles that I showcase in my different series. Technical skills ranging from optical forms to fused piece work. My extensive use of techniques in hot glass come from my studies in college as an illustrator. I like to think of each piece as an illustration in itself. One way of controlling my images is to pre-fuse the decoration and incorporate that image in the piece.
We offer beautifully made hand blown designs that are exclusively to Eternal Glo Keepsakes. Our glass keepsakes include the Out of this World Planetary Glass Spheres as well as many different design options. We also have the exclusive "Glow" in all our keepsakes to represent your loved one's spirit that will always be with you. How It's Made
Each Keepsake is distinctly unique—the fine culmination of the art and its components. The design and size of your Keepsake you’ve chosen is honored in every step of our process.
The cremains (or hair, clothing,) and the select colored glass is layered into the molten glass (around 2300° Fahrenheit). It is collected on the end of a stainless steel pipe called a punty. Once the molten glass, color, and cremains are incorporated, The Artist heats the glass and shapes it into the requested design using wooden blocks, wet newspaper, and various other tools employed in the art of glassblowing. Once the glass and ash are shaped as desired, the Artist incases the design in another layer of molten glass. This layer of glass is also molded into the desired design. The finished keepsake is set into an annealing oven that slowly cools the glass from its 1000-degree temperature at its core to room temperature. The process is slow and deliberate all the while helping to strengthen the glass while protecting it from cracking, the result of being cooled too quickly. Once the Keepsake is cooled to room temperature, the Artist engraves each keepsake.
